Weekend Briefing
Welcome back, agents, and happy St. Patrick’s Day! Today we
have with us Agents Villain Hunter, Williams, and Clark to discuss everything
you need to know for being on the run.
Agent Clark: Seriously, I was just here.
Agent Villain Hunter: What can I say? They just can’t get
enough of us. Or, well, me anyway.
Agent Williams (silently watching them in a mix of
skepticism and amusement).
Me: All right, gentlemen. I’m going to ask you a few
questions, and you’re going to draw on your experience from having been on the
run before. First question: Whom should our agents expect to be on the run
from?
Agent Villain Hunter: Powerful criminals. Crazy relatives.
Cops. Fangirls. But mostly fangirls.
Agent Williams: Anyone who wields their power for evil.
Agent Clark (grunting): Everyone.
Me: So, basically, just be prepared, agents, and don’t
completely trust anyone- excepting Mission
Head, of course.
Agent Clark (grunting again).
Me (frowning at him): Next question: What kind of people
should you keep close in the event of going on the run?
Agent Villain Hunter: A couple of cute chicks who need
protecting. That always keeps things interesting.
Agent Williams (just shaking his head at him): Anyone who
needs protecting from the same people you’re escaping. Especially the old and
the young. Having a tech along for the ride is also very useful.
Agent Clark: Your family. So the bad guys can’t use them
against you.
Me: Yes, yes. Now third question: What are some necessary ‘dos’
of being on the run?
Agent Clark: Oh, that’s easy. Do have a ready list of
safe-houses to lay low at.
Agent Villain Hunter (grinning): Do have a few awesome car
chases.
Agent Williams (shrugging in agreement): Do make sure you
bring plenty of money with you so you aren’t tempted to use credit cards. Also,
do make sure your cell phones are made untraceable-
Agent Clark: Yeah, that’s not possible. Just ditch the
phones.
Agent Williams: Actually, I know someone-
Me: Ahem.
Classified information. Anyway, onto the final question: What are some ‘don’ts’
of being on the run?
Agent Villain Hunter: Duh- don’t get caught.
Agent Clark: Don’t get re-framed.
Agent Williams (glancing away): Don’t do anything rash.
Agent Clark: Don’t trust the wrong people.
Agent Villain Hunter (nodding): That’s definitely another
duh-
Agent Clark: Don’t fall in love-
Agent Villain Hunter (nodding before stopping): But that’s
half the fun.
Agent Clark: And ninety-five percent of the danger.
Agent Williams (pursing his lips and saying nothing).
Me: Okay, it looks like we’re on the verge of divulging classified
material here, so I’ll cut this conversation short. Thanks for coming.
Agent Clark (standing quickly): About time you let us out.
Exeunt Agent
Clark.
Agent Villain Hunter: Just call me back anytime you can’t
stand the withdrawal of being without me.
Exeunt Agent
Hunter.
Agent Williams (glancing around): Well, this was an
interesting character study. This agency does
hire some interesting people…
Exeunt Agent
Williams.
Thanks to the agents for taking time out of their book lives
to visit us.
Agent Villain Hunter from The Time I Saved the Day:
High school sophomore, Charisa O’Dell, has enough to deal with between
homework, karate, and an upcoming school dance. However, when she is
accidentally endowed with superhuman powers, she adds one more thing to the
list: crime fighting. Crime is a lot more complicated than her comics make it
seem, and she finds herself relying on the mysterious Villain Hunter, who
somehow shares several of her superhuman powers. Even so, the more she
infiltrates the world of crime, the more she attracts the attention of the
criminals. Will she survive her attempt to save the day?
Agent Clark from The Bachelor Missions:
The good-guys, the bad-guys, and the wild card- it’s the ultimate game
of cloak and dagger…
Kristian Clark, private eye, thought his days as a special agent were
behind him, but when he’s drafted into action, he finds himself reunited with
his old team- and painful memories of why they broke up in the first place. But
as he plunges into mission after mission- from a ‘holy’ heist to babysitting a
young hacker to going undercover in a cult- Kristian finds that everything he
tried to leave behind is coming back to haunt him with a vengeance, and then
some. First there’s the mysterious woman who knows more about Kristian- and his
past- than makes sense while using science fiction weapons that don’t make
sense period. Then there are the mysterious powers-that-be who are responsible
for drafting Kristian back into this world for their own nefarious agendas. It’s
all Kristian can do to keep from being pulled into their games as he tries to
figure out who to trust and what to fight for even as the trap put in place to
destroy him is set with a ticking clock.
When did espionage get so complicated?
And last but not least, Agent
Williams from Fugitives:
Emily Rogers hoped her most dangerous days were behind her when she
escaped from the Island. But soon she realizes that trying to figure out her
relationship with Christopher Williams and dodging nosy reporters are the least
of her worries. The evil they uncovered on the Island is hunting them down.
Once again torn away from their parents and normal life, Emily and her
cousins along with Christopher and Oto and a handful of allies must flee
through Europe. To be caught would mean certain death, but how long can one
keep ahead of the powers that be?
