My Thoughts:
For Nicole, coming back to her hometown is not something she ever wanted to do. Not even for a brief stint for her job of showcasing her hometown, Golden, in the travel magazine she works for to draw more tourists. Much to her dismay and her mother's happiness she has come back, for just a month. A month that is going to prove more beneficial and healing than she ever thought.
Starting with the neighbors next door, single dad Ethan and his little girl Holly. They have a bit of an impromptu meeting brought on by Nicole's dog Gus and the rest is history as they say. Ethan and Nicole reluctantly become friends both realizing to themselves that there is a bit of spark between them. Neither wanting to ignite that spark, until they do. Both Ethan and Nicole have some major hurts in their past and this really explains their reluctance to have a relationship with one another. Love has other plans, though and there are some really great lessons in forgiveness in this little novel.
This was a story of healing, forgiving, and accepting. A truly heartwarming story of letting the past go, the bitter feelings with it, and embracing a future with much more hope and love than what was thought possible.
