The Deep End of Love

Title: The Deep End of Love
Author: Christina Suzann Nelson
Publisher: Kregel Publications
Release Date: May 19, 2026
Genre: Contemporary Fiction

A refreshed and updated novel on the power of motherly love

When Izzy's pregnancy comes to light during her junior year of high school, her future sinks like a stone and leaves waves of uncertainty in its wake. And suddenly three women are pulled into the undertow. A mother desperate to protect her child but battling hurt and fear from her past. A newcomer with empty arms and a deep longing. And a broken heart trying to survive amid grief.

An unborn baby growing closer to his unknown future brings together these four women with four completely different stories. Masterfully told in woven points of view, The Deep End of Love explores how one decision exposes shame, fear, and hope—and how grace surfaces in the least expected places.

Christy Award-winning author Christina Suzann Nelson draws readers in through this emotionally engaging and inspirational novel, now revised and updated.

My Thoughts:

Have the tissues ready for this novel. This is a story that is really bittersweet, heart wrenching, and faith filled all at the same time. It is a look at mistakes that define us, and not just us but those around us, and how do we move on afterwards.

This story is told in four women's point of views, and the author masterfully had me feeling for each one, for different reasons. All of their pain and worries were palatable. This is a story of a young girl who gets pregnant, her mother who is confronted with her own past, the mother of the father and all of her shortcomings, and another woman who is carrying around a deep hurt.

All of these women were relatable. This was a highly emotional driven novel that does deal with real world consequences and some sad endings, but hope filled beginnings. Read it with tissues.

My Thoughts:

This was an exciting and adrenaline filled suspense right from the start. Dale Hardy, FBI agent, has been assigned to ranch work to stop an opioid operation. Little does she know that her assignment is going to get risky right from the start. When ranch owner Mark Goodson picks her up at the airport, he is not suspecting a woman. His brother neglected to tell him that detail. Right from the start they are being tailed and being pointed at with guns.

Dale really needs this assignment to prove herself to her boss. To show she can be a good agent. She just doesn't know if the Goodson family are part of the operation or not. That is until they all start being targeted and the danger ramps up for all of them. Throw in a romance for two people who really needed one another, and you have a fun story that is hard to put down with some shocking twists.

I liked how the title fit this story, because even though Dale was an agent, she was a girly girl.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.
