So, what do you do when the serial killer wants to play a game with you? Unfortunately, you must stop him, but he does make it much more difficult when he makes all the rules and sees you as a pawn. That is the situation that police detective Charlotte Reid finds herself in when the killer she has been hunting for years decides to hunt her. She not only has to face her own terror, but also the terror of the women he is kidnapping.
This is a very personal vendetta, not just because he has targeted Charlotte, but also, he killed her sister some years ago. During the last investigation, she met and fell in love with FBI agent Austin Walsh. Things didn't work out that time due to this case and the loss of her beloved sister. However, now Austin is back and as determined as Charlotte to get this murderer off the streets. But what they have to go through, and the mind games the killer plays with them is downright cruel.
This is a rather fast paced story of hunting, healing, and of course romance. It reminds me of a favorite show, The Mentalist, who was also tracking down a serial killer for personal reasons. There is just something next level creepy when the killer begins playing with people's lives.
