My Thoughts:

In a very Dr. Seuss style, The Red Fence is a story that takes silly rhyme to tell a story that different is ok. That not everyone must conform to the standards of this particular town. That it is ok to be unique and standout from the crowd.

It all starts when a new family moves into town and dares to be just a little bit different. Then they do the unthinkable and paint their white fence red. The town goes into an uproar and with funny and unexpected results this town tries very hard to make this red fence white again.

This is a very bright and colorful picture book with a lesson that we are all different yet we are very much the same too.

I was provided a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Damiano has a passion for creativity, and his stories always contain a positive message. He also wrote The Christmas Blanket, which earned him a Mom’s Choice Award. In The Christmas Blanket, his character EJ realizes the true meaning of Christmas, which is not about getting presents, but about giving back to others.
