My Thoughts on In Love's Time by Kate Breslin

About:

At the height of World War I, two sweethearts face impossible odds in this powerful tale of courage, duty, and heartbreak.

In the summer of 1918, Captain Marcus Weatherford arrives in Russia on a secret mission, with a beautiful ballerina posing as his fiancée. He's there to find the Romanov tsarina and her son and glean information about a plot to assassinate Lenin. As the danger intensifies, Marcus's sense of duty battles with his desire to return home to Clare, the woman he truly loves, before it's too late.

Military hospital orderly Clare Danner still suffers from Marcus's betrayal after learning he's engaged to another woman. Clare also fears losing her daughter, Daisy, to the heartless family who took her away once before. Only Marcus can provide the critical proof needed to save Daisy, but when an injury leaves him powerless to help, Clare's fate--and the fate of the top-secret mission--hangs in the balance.

My Thoughts:

In Love's Time is an apropos title that shows these characters and us, that if we just stay patient, love will work itself out. And what a rollercoaster ride this was. We are in the summer of 1918; World War 1 is going on and the flu is taking many lives. There are secrets, espionage, countries at stake, and a love that may break under all the pressure.

Captain Marcus Weatherford has been tasked with a secret mission. Unfortunately, it will take him away from the love of his life, orderly Clare Danner and her little girl Daisy. However, it cannot be helped, and he refuses to leave her a widow. Unfortunately, some things are seen and misjudged and hearts break. Marcus must go undercover as an engaged man to a woman he barely knows and not even being able to make things right with Clare.

Well, big things happen that I was not expecting and wow what a ride. Clare and Marcus both must trust that the truth and love will push through before they make some big mistakes.

I haven't read an author Breslin novel in too long and this one really captured my attention during this holiday season and even with much to do, it was hard to put down. The heart wants what the heart wants is what they say.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
