Review: Counting Kadence by Danni Roan

To Purchse

About:

Searching for quiet amidst the controlling threats of an ex and well-meaning family, Michelle Brighton contacts a modern-day matchmaker to escape the bustle of her New York life in the hopes of finally finding peace.

Quite Kade Ballard knows little more than work, and the fact that he doesn’t want to be alone on the Broken J Ranch anymore. Letters from the past make him long for a simpler time. Hopeful, he places his trust in a match-making, purple-haired psychologist and the help of the Lord to bring him the desires of his heart?

Thrown together, in a perfect storm of circumstances, can Kade and Michelle learn the art of working together? Or will their difference and the past separate them forever?

My Thoughts:

Counting Kadence is a novella about a modern day marriage of convenience set up by a matchmaker. I really thought it would be interesting to see how a newlywed couple, having just met at the altar, would get along after a whirlwind honeymoon, when real life starts. The questions raised, especially by Kade, were spiritually important, and maybe he should have asked some of those questions before the vows. However he was very patient and loving towards Michelle as she realized there was more to this marriage and life then what she first thought.

Each had a reason to get married, Kade because he didn’t want to be alone and Michelle as she was running from her current situation. I liked watching the progression of their marriage and how they worked out their problems. Kade was a sweetheart and I liked how he viewed Michelle as his wife. Michelle was a more complicated character, in some ways I felt she was trying to hit a reset button for her life.

I purchased this book for my own reading enjoyment (and because I really liked the cover). All views and opinions are my own.
