My Thoughts:

Sybil and Freemont's story continues in Freemont's Promise, and this one is rife with heartbreak and family drama. They have just lost their baby boy to illness and Sybil has a serious case of depression. She is also hurt as her fractured family- mother, father, and sisters are still their old selves and all of them are pretty much self-centered. Sybil's mom especially was a hard one and I do understand somewhat. After her divorce she hated Sybil's father and his cheating ways, but the love that she seems to withhold from Sybil and her family is unacceptable.

Freemont just wants to get his wife and children away from the toxic relationships. He wants his wife back and his children to be healthy and happy. Sybil agrees that they need to move away, she just has a hard time thinking about moving away from her family. Even though they are not really good for her, she does hope for a change.

We walk with Sybil and Freemont as they navigate the late 30's and early 40's as the entire world is also bracing for the the Second World War. Theirs was a struggle of a life held together with their faith in God, their love for one another, and their precious children.

Kathryn Spurgeon writes FAITH STORIES FROM THE PAST or Christian historical novels with a focus on 1930s America using true events and actual locations. Award winning author, she won Illumination Award, She studied creative writing at the University of Central Oklahoma and has spoken at many women’s conferences around the world. She grew up on a farm in Oklahoma before moving to South Korea and adopting two daughters. Kathryn and her husband, Bill, have six children and thirteen grandchildren.
