My Thoughts:

Taking a little trip across the pond, we enter the little town of Welcombe Bay in Devon, England. Here we have a story of two hurting souls, healing and picking up the pieces of their broken past. Eric has had a harrowing experience with his alcoholism and through AA he is trying to piece his life back together. Lily, a bakery shop owner, is still dealing with divorce proceedings from her abusive ex-husband who still causes her PTSD.

Lily and Eric hit it off almost at once. I liked that Lily was willing to be open to a new romance, realizing not all men were like her abusive ex. Eric inspired me as he struggled with his guilt and shame that finally caught him up in the truths about himself. He did not just bemoan his circumstances and remain bitter and angry, no he picked himself up and took responsibility for his faults and proceeded to find faith and live a better life.

So, this was a sweet romance between Lily and Eric, two people who have lived challenging lives and worked to rise above their circumstances.

About the Author

Kate Darroch lives on the picturesque Devon coastline, where she combines her passion for cozy sleuths and her experiences of life as it’s lived in many countries to create compelling Travel Cozies.
