My Thoughts on A Match in the Making by Jen Turano

About:

Miss Gwendolyn Brinley accepted a temporary paid companion position for the Newport summer season, believing it would be a lark to spend the summer in America's most exclusive town. She suddenly finds her summer turning anything but amusing when her employer expects her to take over responsibilities as an assistant matchmaker. Tasked with the daunting prospect of attaining advantageous matches for her clients, Gwendolyn soon finds herself in the employ of Mr. Walter Townsend, the catch of the Season, but a gentleman Gwendolyn finds beyond irritating.

Walter Townsend is reluctantly in search of a wife for the sake of his unruly motherless children who cannot keep a governess for long. What he wasn't expecting was Miss Brinley, an amateur matchmaker who turns his quest for a new wife into a complete and utter debacle. Constantly besieged by society ladies on a mission to win his affection, Walter must find a way to overcome their inundating attention--and his unexpected attraction toward Gwendolyn.

The more time they spend together throughout the Newport Season, the harder it is for Gwendolyn to find Walter a wife when she realizes his perfect match might be . . . her.

My Thoughts:

I can always count on author Turano to deliver a rip-roaring, humorous read filled with heart. And this new series that delves into the realm of matchmaking has that and more.

Gwendolyn is the heroine who has found herself in quite the job predicament, one that she did not sign up for nor one that she really needs. But a challenge had been set before her, and if anything, she was going to honor her agreement with Mrs. Parker, a matchmaking matron whom young mothers seek out for their unmarried daughters. Now through a series of unfortunate circumstances, Gwendolyn finds herself assistant matchmaker.

Enter the Newport season and Gwendolyn's hope for a restful summer are anything but. Walter Townsend, a very successful businessman who is considered the catch of the season is seeking a wife to be a mother to his children. I don't think he really was thinking anything more beyond that. His three children had become out of control, and not only did he not know them well, but he did also not know how to make them behave. Then he meets Gwendolyn, and all hilarity ensues.

Brimming with wit and silliness, this story takes on an unconventional path to true love. Walter needs Gwendolyn's help, and he will employ all within his will to make that happen. Reluctantly Gwendolyn helps with less than desired results, or are they? Will these two slow down long enough to see that they are the perfect match?

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
