screeching halt when she nearly loses her life in a boating accident and then
learns that her mother tried to commit suicide. She leaves her job to care for
her mother in Montana. At least there Erin is able to produce her podcast,
which focuses on solving missing persons cold cases.
Nathan Campbell's father was investigating such a case when he was shot, and
now Nathan needs to enlist Erin's help to solve the case. She's certainly good
at what she does. The only problem? She's his ex.
As the two dig deeper, it becomes clear that they, too, are being targeted--and
the answers to their questions are buried deep within the past Erin struggles
to explain and longs to forget.
My Thoughts:
It has been a long time since I have read a book of suspense that has been so suspenseful and full of thrills like this one. Not only are Erin and Nathan in danger, but their loved ones are too.
This book starts out as a peaceful day on the water. Then back-to-back Erin is fleeing for her life when her onetime love, Nathan, is calling her with some devastating news.
Nathan meanwhile is dealing with father issues when he agrees to meet with his father at their favorite fishing site. Little do either one of them know the lengths that someone will go to keep Nathan's father quiet.
Nathan is now reeling with what happened to his father along with the partial message his father gave to him. On top of that he is to trust no one. As if things couldn't get worse, Nathan and Erin almost die together due to a catastrophe, either natural or manmade.
This was not an easy book to put down and try to do real life. I was instantly invested and felt like I was right there along with those two. This was a really intense and thrilling read and there is a lot more going on. So many secrets that need to be told, exposed, or uncovered and I was not sure these two were going to make it.
