Review: The Escape by Lisa Harris

About:

How do you catch a fugitive who has nothing to lose?

US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn have orders to transport two high-profile prisoners across the country on a private plane. But when the plane experiences engine trouble en route from the Pacific Northwest to Colorado, the pilots crash-land the aircraft deep in the heart of the sprawling Salmon-Challis National Forest.

With both pilots and one prisoner dead--and one fugitive on the run--Madison and Jonas must negotiate the rugged and remote backcountry as they track a murderer who is desperate to disappear . . . and will do anything to stop them.

My Thoughts:

Wow. This was a pretty intense read, especially about a prisoner escapee who really has nothing to lose. Which makes him very dangerous to everyone who comes in contact with him.

There is a lot going for this story: a plane crash, a desperate hunt, and in the background a very interesting story arc is taking place. Madison and Jonas are two US Marshalls who have been tasked with transporting two prisoners. However, that trip does not go as planned and not only are Madison and Jonas in danger, but so are a whole host of people. This story had just the right atmosphere of suspense and surprise.

Madison is still grieving for her husband who had been murdered five years previous. The killer was never caught. Who are they and where are they are some pretty big questions that Madison and me as a reader was asking. I think I might have been asking it more, as Madison, understandably was trying to move on with her life. But I think these questions are too big to be ignored and his killer needs to be caught.

This is the beginning of a series and not everything was neatly wrapped up. Jonas is interested in a relationship with Madison, and Madison really, really needs her questions answered. Especially after the explosive climax. I am looking forward to continuing their story. I am glad they are getting more page time.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my  own.
