Review: The Forgiving Jar by Wanda E. Brunstetter

To Purchase

Book 2 in The Prayer Jars Series!

What would you do if you learned someone has been impersonating you? Sara Murray has to find out when she first meets her Amish grandparents in Lancaster County and discovers someone else has been living with them and posing as Sara. Can Sara forgive the past and start to build new relationships?

My Thoughts:

Forgiveness makes a difference and in The Forgiving Jar we see the characters attitudes, view of life, and relationship with God, and others change for the better. I will clarify first that this is the second in the series, The Prayer Jars, and I did not read the first in the series. I do wish that I did, not that this one cannot stand alone, because it can, I just think I would have had a much deeper connection with Michelle.

We have a story here where one young lady, Michelle, impersonates another, Sara, and basically lives her life with her grandparents that Sara just found out about. In fact Sara finds out after her mother passed away that she had Amish grandparents and that her mother lived a past life Sara was never told about.  Michelle has had a troubled life and she saw an opportunity and took it not realizing at the time what her actions would cause.

Sara is not pleased when she comes to live with her grandparents that they have forgiven and accepted Michelle back into their home. I did feel for Sara and quite understood her feelings, misplaced though they were. Michelle was a harder person for me to like, and that may have been due to the fact that I did not read the first book. But both girls grow in many ways as this prickly situation plays out and Sara must learn to forgive. There are a couple of romances that play out in the story as well.  I intend to get the first book and hopefully finish out this very interesting series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.
