Review: The Day the Angels Fell by Shawn Smucker

To Purchase
About:

When tragedy shakes young Samuel Chamber’s family, his search for answers entangles him in the midst of an ancient conflict and leads him on an unexpected journey to find the Tree of Life.

My Thoughts:

The Day the Angels Fell was a whimsical, fantastical kind of tale that I have not read the likes of in a very long time. This was a story of life and death, good and evil, and truth and lies. Bad things and accidents happen all the time in our world and we really have no power to stop it. Here we have a young boy, Sam, who has gone through the unexpected death of his mother. Throwing his world off kilter and now living in this new nightmarish reality, Sam would do anything to get his mom back and pay any cost for that.

Enter certain shady and secretive characters that just may be able to help Sam and his dad out but possibly at a price that neither would want to pay.

Reading like a modern day fairy tale, Sam with his best friend Abra, embark on an adventure where neither one knows the consequences or the extent of the evil that follows them as they choose to find the Tree of Life.

This was written very well and kept me engaged and is a story that I think tweens, teens, and adults will enjoy.  Sprinkled with sadness, a bit of creepiness, and ultimately hope this would be a great book to read and discuss with your kids.

I received a copy of this book for free. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions expressed are my own.
