Review: Misleading Miss Verity by Carolyn Miller

To Purchase
About:

Could a strong-willed noble lass with a tendency toward trouble be a godsend in disguise?

Verity Hatherleigh has a mind of her own—but her impulsive actions do not impress her viscount papa. When she gets into one scrape too many, he sends her off to the wilds of Scotland to rethink her headstrong ways.

Anthony Jardine relished his role as curate, but his new duties as laird of Dungally aren't always to his liking. Though he thought his new inheritance would be a blessing, somehow he's finding nothing but trouble on these estates. And the intelligent, compassionate, feisty lass who was sent to rusticate in his territory is one of the biggest problems. He's falling in love with her, but she doesn't share the faith that's his foundation—not to mention he's been lying to her about who he really is. For the truth-loving Verity, that may be unforgivable.

The tangled web these two have woven may spell disaster for their happiness—and for the tenants of Dungally.

My Thoughts:

You can never go wrong with reading an author Miller story. I think Verity's story is my favorite yet, but I have enjoyed all of them and my visits to regency Europe.

Here we have Verity, the youngest of the Aynsley's daughters and her story I have been most anticipating. Verity is special, as her name means truth she is quite literal speaking. She was a breath of fresh air yet sadly her parents, especially her mother did not understand her or try to. Verity did not fit the mold of proper English society she was also not the heir her parents so desired. She was shuffled from place to place and generally thought of as a nuisance for her plain and truthful spoken ways. Shocking everyone of her peers.

Anthony, the new Dungally lord, is first and foremost a minister. He receives news of quite an unexpected inheritance while he is in Australia. So he bounds a ship, (after an errand), and heads to Scotland. He is not the most robust of men, especially after taking a rather hard beating, but his heart is for God and to make right the tenants lives he is responsible for. And then he meets Verity.

I really enjoyed their separate journeys to Scotland. We get to know both characters well before they meet each other and begin to fall in love. I always wondered what type of gentleman would be a match for Verity, and Anthony and his reserved ways fits the bill. His character is very romantic in a non-traditional way. Their love story was most enjoyable to watch unfold.

I have very much enjoyed this series where each sister finds love with three most unconventional men. I look forward to the next story by author Miller.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
