My Thoughts:

I love history, always was my favorite subject in school and I enjoy teaching my children the history of our great nation, and being reminded of what she stood for and still stands for. In this 6-week workbook course we are taken through Biblical history and how it ties into our own nation's history. Are they connected? What was our founding fathers goals for this nation?

History is important and should not be forgotten. This is a workbook that could be used for school, especially home-schooling, or a Sunday School study.  It would also be a great book to do as a family devotional to delve deeper into history of our country while studying the Bible. I really liked the thought provoking questions and I think that they would make great discussions when doing this book with others.

This was a very informative workbook/study that I plan to share with my family.

About the Author:

For over twenty years, Marta has traveled extensively as a missionary, evangelist and Bible teacher sharing God’s message of truth and redemption. She is a teacher of teachers. Marta founded Words of Grace & Truth in 2011 whose mission is to teach God’s Word to the nations and teach others to do the same. My Thoughts:

Imagine The Miracles of Jesus continues the Imagine series where a young boy or girl travels back in time into a Bible story. John Le is the 12 year old boy who travels back during the time Jesus walked on this earth. 

What is a little bit different with this one is that Jesus, not an angel as in previous stories, knows who he is and where he is from. This story also has a  lot of spiritual warfare, especially with a certain demon that torments him. The ending was a little strange and one must remember that this is fiction. It may also be a little frightening for younger readers.

Other than that the book was enjoyable as John's faith grows on his journey.

My Thoughts:

This is the third novel in the Fairaven series and this story takes us further into this fantasy world, with an air of anticipation for the next in the series.

This story takes place 18 years later with two characters that are searching for belonging and acceptance. I would definitely classify this as a coming of age story.

Mara is a simple commoner, or so she thinks, until she finds out some startling truths about her past. Searching for her place in this world with this new truth sends her on a path of her new destiny.

Rand is a character that is running away from the demons of his past that are still intent on destroying him and all he holds dear. These two start off on an adventure that will bring them to truths that they did not know of.

I was happy to be back in this world. I enjoyed the continuation of this story and I think this one just might be my favorite as many loose ends of the previous story are tied up. The story arc is one that is keeping me glued to the pages and looking forward to the next in the series.

My Thoughts:

It's always great to see the Christian market publishing more than just Amish, literary, and romance, so I was already on board for this little something different. That this book is about a preacher with a dark past as a CIA officer made me not want to ever get off the ship.

This story is almost non-stop action, but the characters shine in this. There's John Cross, our preacher who thinks he can redeem his own past, poor confused soul; Heather, the reporter who he rescued and is trying to track him down; Guin, his former co-worker; and a mysterious villain as upset about all this killing as our hero is- along with many others, all dealing with big life issues against the backdrop of something even bigger than themselves.

Unfortunately, they mess up a lot. Like the church choosing an unmarried, newer Christian to be their preacher- that was  a big mess up even though John Cross tried so hard to live up to the role. And Heather slaps injured men in the face because they're late to dates... making Guin the obviously superior woman in John's life. Team Guin all the way.

This book was almost non-stop action all the way, with hilarious comic scenes that can only come from a CIA officer turned preacher, and an epic climax to cinch it. I can't wait for the rest of the series with more John Cross- and, I can only hope, more Guin.

My Thoughts:

I was not sure what to expect going into this novel, but I was pleasantly surprised and very much enjoyed this story. Getting a peak at the goings on behind the scenes of Hollywood was like looking into another world. There is much involved and a lot of work to try to pull off that movie magic. 

Danny Byrd is a character who has been betrayed and falsely accused. That is where the story begins. As we go through the story we get to know him and his character and why he was in a lot of demand in Hollywood as a line producer.

Megan Pierce is a lawyer that is tired of the favoritism and schemes of her LA law firm. Megan explains some of the shenanigans her bosses and coworkers did and what she described was ruthless. Megan is looking for a new start and becomes the lawyer for Danny Byrd.

There is quite a bit to this story, even a little bit of a mystery as the characters and the reader are left in the dark on some of the plot points. At times I was confused and wondered if I missed anything as I reread a section, but I just think that was how the story was written. The chapters are relatively short and that kept the story moving at a fast clip.

As a movie goer and a TV show watcher, I guess I never put too much thought on how all the movie "magic" happens. There is a lot of work and a whole lot of people that need to work together to produce a good movie and I liked getting a behind the scenes look at that.

My Thoughts:

I am thoroughly convinced that author Beller is the Queen of writing rugged, against all odds wilderness and mountain adventures through any and all kinds of weather. If you have ever read one of her novels you know what I am talking about.

This one started with a doozy of an opening and I must say that the fortitude and courage of these people really is beyond what I can understand or would want to deal with myself. I know they are fictional, but like the pioneers and those that lived in the past with out all the electronics, electricity, cars, planes, central heating that we have today, how did they do it? My only conclusion is that we have become much too reliant on modern day conveniences while the past folks forged their way through mountains and desert and relied on their own ingenuity. 

Ingrid Chastain is helping her father to deliver small pox vaccines to a small town before the population is wiped out. Before they make it to their destination the unthinkable happens. The before and the after of Ingrid's journey now looks very different. Now she is very reliant on a once doctor now turned mountain man to not only help her save the townspeople, but also to save her.

There was a lot of natural drama in this story line and I wondered how these two were going to get out of their circumstances when so much was stacked against them from the get go. But you'll have to read the story for yourself and go on this very dangerous and courageous journey with them.

Remember Lassie? Old Yeller? Chance and Shadow from the movie Homeward Bound? There was something about these dogs that gripped my heartstrings and made me love them as though I’d known them for years. (And, yes, I cried during every one of these movies and books.)

Don’t get me wrong, we’ve had real dogs I’ve loved too. As far back as I can remember, we’ve had at least one or two dogs, and each one has been my very best friend. They’ve suffered my undying love, even allowing me to dress them up like dolls during my younger years. 

But the dogs in my stories have a special place in my heart. Handsome, the sweet little black fluffball in Hope’s Highest Mountain is no exception! He was the runt of the litter, and such a dark black that the story’s hero nicknamed him Shadow. You can see the picture that inspired Handsome at the book’s Pinterest page. Those eyes! Hard not to fall in love, right? 

The more I wrote in the story, the more I enjoyed getting to know this little guy, and I could almost feel his soft puppy fur as he snuggled in close. I completely see why Ingrid (the heroine) is smitten him! As you read Hope’s Highest Mountain, I hope you love Handsome as much as I do. Please give him some extra petting for me! ?
